This Is The 60’s is the brain child of Jim Duffy, the original Executive Producer. The show was conceived as a television special but, as Duffy continued to develop the idea, it was decided that it would make an excellent theater stage production. The most important step for Duffy was finding the musicians that could not only bring his vision to life but also embody the vibe of the time-period as it grows through the 5 segments. He really captured lightning in a bottle with the group that was pulled together and the troupe toured the show nationally 4 times, with the third including This Is The 70’s.
Fast forward 10 years from the original rehearsal meetings and the three primary musician/vocalist decided the show is still a show that is very close to their heart and and hoped to rebuild the production. The process of pulling all the elements together (wardrobe, equipment, personnel) has rekindled a show that needs to be seen by new audiences.
The performance will immerse you in the pop culture of the 1960's through music, fashion, film, dance, original graphics and a single to multiple screen presentation. The show is a vibe for the senses and is enjoyable for all ages. It tells the growth of music, and the country, from the Early Years (1960) through Woodstock Nation and the Summer of Love (1969).
Full of energy and moving, emotional moments throughout with plenty of humor. You will be transported back in time to the most diverse decade in pop music.
There are talking points guiding the audience through the show and videos leading each segment for the specific time period that follows.
